I just thought I would share that I sent in an "AHA!" moment email to Oprah.com in response to the book club book: A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose by Eckhart Tolle. I did get an automatic response from the site stating:

Dear Oprah, I watched your show the other day
when you talked about the book The New Earth. I became interested in being involved
with your class but thought how wonderful it would be if we had groups in spiritual setting
discussin the evolution of the book together
in person. Computers take away that personal
touch of sharing our ideas together and learning from each other.

I have just started reading the book, A New Earth I am so impressed. I am so excited and I am only on page 45. I had to stop reading and go out for a drive to get some air and to look around because I felt jumpy inside, I’m not sure why I felt so happy. It was snowing out which I had not noticed before going out, I saw two sets of deer tracks and a watched to racoons cross the road. Things looked different tonight, everything looked bigger. I’m not sure what I am feeling but I am excited to finish the book. I called a friend who is also reading the book and we are going to meet next monday at a friend of her’s to do the class together.

i don’t know much about computers. so i just picked the first thing that looked like it might get thru. you got all this talk about women getting older and better! what about the men! i’m almost 50 and i’ve got nothing left to live for. i’m deaf, i suffer from neurological conditions. i have cataracts. i live alnoe. all i do everyday is sit, sometimes read, and watch you. but you never talk about how hard it can be for men! just the women.
i would be the first to admit that women have been undervalued and downtrodden thru the centuries. but we’ve reached a tim when the balance is different. thats all. i doubt you’ll ever answer me but i wanted to try.

I must be r e a l l y s t u p i d because I’m having a tough time reading Eckart’s book. I am a voracious reader to begin with but this book has been hard to slog through.
BUT I will endure as I’m on page 134 and I see myself in alot of places so I do believe there is some validity to what he is saying, I’m just having a bitch of a time staying focused on the topic.

First you need know about the wonderful leader and teacher we have at Bethany Baptist Church in Lindenwold, N.J. His name is Bishop David G Evans. He is very compassionate about advancing not only his congregation but also reaches out to the people in the community. He has designed and made available every program imaginable. With all the negative images out there, it is wonderful to talk about someone who is truly trying to change communities. Bishop Evans is that someone.He brings a delightful,refreshing change to everyone he touches.
This is how he has helped us. We are a mother-dughter team that had the opportunity t produce applesauce for Whole Foods Market. One of the problems we encountered was physically producing our product, Momma’s Home Made Applesauce,in a commercial kitchen. We exhausted every resource we could find, and still everyone turned us down. Finally we went to our Bishop Evans. His response was a very positive one. In no time, he allowed us to use the kitchen facilities at Bethany Baptist Church. Our church has approximately 27,000 members. The kitchen is beautiful. He has been gracious enough to allow us with the approval of Chef, the access without cost, one day a week. We cannot thank our Bishop enough, for his encouragement and assistance in our endeavors to become entrepreneurs. He encourages people through the things he knows about God’s word.
We just want to take the time to thank him for his kindness and generosity towards others. Because of his help we are presently in (4) Whole Foods Markets. The name of our product is Momma’s Home Made LLC. Everyone says it tastes like apple pie and it does. We would find it to be an honour and pleasure if you would try it.

Oprah, I have watched you for many years and have always had an ongoing tally or assessment of who you truly are in my mind. I could flatter you with my assessment but you have enough of that already. so I will get to the point at hand. You had made a comment about God being jealous of you and implied that you could not serve a jealous God. The comment was taken out of context as God is jealous and does not tolerate us serving other God’s even ourselves. He is the great “I AM”and there is no you or me in that “I”! He is the one and only true and living God and has carved out a purpose for all of us , you included , we choose how we will serve that purpose in giving him glory for who he is in all we do or by opposing him and being used by him anyway whether we want to be or not. I am surprised for all of the reading you have done and for how blessed you have been that you have not serioiusly read the bible. I have not given up on you and neither I’m sure has God, ” TO whom much is given much is required.” I will be continuing to dialouge with you so I hope this reaches your vision as I take my orders from God and only want to give you what he burden’s me with for you. May God continue to bless you and may you receive it as he gives it for his intention

Dear Oprah, this morning I was meditating and had a realization that my ego is afraid of the I am tht I am. I’ve always had a power that I’ve been afraid of on some level and used something to weaken it when I felt it at it’s most powrful. Food usually, but alcohol sometimes. I will eat really healthy for awhile and feel my I am power start to rise and feel good about it, finally, now knowing what it is. Then my ego will take over and I will eat and eat and eat till I feel terrible. Now, I realize that my Ego is afraid of my I am. My ego eats to weaken my I am and stay in control. This is quite an epiphany for me. My I am has always been VERY strong and I’ve always been afriad of it until now.
I think this is a turning point for me.

I am one of your avid fans. I am reading the book A New Earth, and in this book one can see the unseen. It awakens me. I grew up in a third world country, in a farm in which we learned to respect nature. Before my father cut a tree, he talked to it and then he replaced to plant a new one next to it. When I started reading this book it reminds me of how my grandmother told me(that was 1958)that there will be more wars because of material possesions. POWER, POWER and more POWER.
Watching “Good Morning – Saturday” They interviewed young children that experienced Katrina. Through an art program using two boxes, the children created boxes showing their worst fears and the other box was for their hopes.
One little boy said “
I am sorry you have stepped away from the true giver of peace Oprah. I remember when you used to mention Jesus quite often on your shows but you have now become victim to the “New Age” group. God help you for leading so many people astray. You will be judged accordingly. I used to watch your show.

I’m from Holland ,so please excuse me when my Englisch isn’t perfect. I read here about the book “A New Earth”. I’m curious now and look here in Holland for the translation. I was born in 1968 ,the year that Martin Luther King was killed. I am/was very intrigued by him. My mom was Catholic and my dad Protestant. They lived in a Catholic area from Holland, so my dad and his brothers and sisters had to endure a lot of ugly teasing. When i was baptised ,the pastor of the Catholic church decided that the Protestant side of the family could sing there Protestant songs. I always thought that was a very beautiful and a nonjudging gesture. When i was growing up we didn’t go often to church, just like a lot/most people then and now. My mom talked about God with me and learned me to pray. At school (Catholic)we also praid and the Pastor told beautiful storries from the bible. At age of 6 we did recived our Holy Communion. School and life went on and often on my way to school or home i stood still by our church and looked up to the tower and way up into the sky looking for God. Trying to understand and imagin how He was like. I was then verry intrested in God and Jezus Chritus ( i still am). Then we get history at school. We learned about the discovery from different parts of the world. It realy realy hurted my Hart that so called civilized people from Europe (also the Netherlands/Holland) Act the way they did (it still does). When they saw those beautiful colorful Indian people ,They only saw the difference and judged they were less instead of be delighted to see new people. Most of them were killed and if it wasn’t enough they took African people,made them slaves?????. My Hart was broken and i was very ashamed that i was white, a European ,a descendant of them. How is it possible to make such haughtiness and stupid and loveless decisions. I also didn’t understand the churches ,that they wanted to force (in so many unholy ways)there religion to so-called unbelievers. Why weren’t they happy to see that in fact everybody believes. Isn’t it very unfaithfull to think that God can’t reach His Sons and Daughters in the way they need and understand? Didn’t God told us in the bible “you shall not judge”? All kind of religions argu who’s wright even when the have the same God. All those differant rules are made up by judging people who wants power. Fake power. Freedom of speak, freedom of oppinion, YES! But never forget that your oppinion can be differant tomorrow.
At school at age 12 we had to do our confirmation. So the Pastor came to school to explain us what it was. I was very exited and thought that we get more information about God. He told us beautiful storries but in the end the signification was ,you only make a promisse to the church. I was very very disappointed. Because the church (all kinds) did terrible things in the name of God. In middle ages, they let poor people pay them with their last food etc etc etc. So the Pastor asked us who of us didn’t do there confirmation. I was the onlyone who put up my finger. He asked why and i said that i couldn’t make a promisse to the church. Because we didn’t go to church much and a promisse is a promisse. I could only promisse to God, but it looked like He had nothing to do with it.
When i came home i told my mom,”i don’t do my confirmation”. In Holland every child get’s a bike as present after confirmation, because of secondary school. I still got my bike. ha ha.
I wish i could talk to Martin Luther King. I HAD A DREAM TOO. It was so BIG & BEAUTIFUL, if everybody will dream it tonight, then we have Peace tomorrow!
GOD is GOOD ,GOD is LOVE . Judging what we still all doing is from the scarred and ignorant people who cannot imagin / Believe how BIG & GOOD ,GOD/LOVE is.
Jezus was angry in the church were people were merchandising, and we’re still doing it. He told us also that we’re ALL Son’s of GOD and that when we Trust and LOVE and do not judge ,can make contact with GOD.
We still think that LOVE hurts, but be shure that pain never has anything to do with LOVE/GOD.
I’m longing to a new earth and our redemtion of our primitif way’s,who are based on fear (for loosing). That’s the original sin. With ALL my Love for everyone and i apologize for all pain and mistakes of the world. BIG BIG kisses and hughes and smiles for EVERYONE.

I think it is disgraceful that you do not interview the Rep. V.P. canidate. Is this fairplay? I haven’t decided who I like yet, but trying to keep me from finding out about the other party’s canidate sounds fishy to me.
One sided fairness is what the Russians practice, not the Americans. We would like to hear about all who are in the race, not just you personal favorite. Your credibility is on the line. Hope you have the courage to put your personal beliefs aside and let us hear all sides.

Dear Oprah I have been a fan of yours since I was ten years old, in fact my cousins and I wathched the color purple everyday that summer and me being the thick one they called me sophia, but I could sing so I would sing miss shugs part when the juke joint sence came in.
I can’t tell you enough how much that story fit my mothers life, my Grandmother died when my mother was just 11 months old leaving my Grandfather to raise seven little ones on his own. there wre nine children but two were about 17and 18. MY Mother tells stories of hunger that you would’nt believe ,living in the 1940’s and being black in Selma Alabama was’nt so easy infact my Granpa sort of lost it due to the fact his loving wife had passed on, so my Mothers oldest brother and his wife took on the smaller Milton tribe and raised them along with their 8 children, keep in mine my uncle and his wife was in their early twenties with all these kids. My Grandfater died when my Mother was 10 she was then sent to Boston to live with her third oldest brother and his wife growing up with her nieces and nephews. When my mother turned 20 she rented her very first apartment with some of her nieces and nephews wanting to follow as she meant the world to them. At twenty eight my Mom met a man whom she fell in love with, after ten years of dating she becme pregnant with me, when she told him he stated that he did’nt want kids and two years later he was gone. My childhood was great I was A spoiled black child which was fine with me, there weren’t to many of us around, my Mother worked like a dog to give me my hearts desire because of her own hard growing up, she did’nt want me to know what pain was. When I was twentythree I fell inlove with a man with whom I becacame pregnant with his child and just like my Dad, he told me to kick rocks. Mommy to the rescue as usual she played the role of my mother and friend aswell as my babies daddy, God was I grateful for my baby to have her Grandma as I had sometimes longed for mine. My Mother and I have since tried to give our little girl the american dream by purchasing a home and keeping a solid family just the three of us girls as you know family now days is’nt always a mother,father and kids . On March 22nd 2008 the MILTON family my family was on our way to the cemetary to bury my uncle Leon, My Mother and the 6 remianing silblings along with 2 sister-in-laws that helped to raise them were riding behind the herse in the family car for my uncle had never married and did not have kids, when the driver fell asleep crashing into a tree a bus stop and a magazine stand
leaving them all serverly injured my Mother with a broken right ankle and her tib and fib spilt in half on the left leg. My 7 yearold and I where devastated and stiil my mom is in a rehab. My Mother and I were both working to keep our home for our baby but now there’s no money with her out of work and my being demoted for missing time after the accident we are in danger of losing our home, I’m scarred and hurt the one thing my mom never wanted me to be and I had promied her that I would take of her for the rest of her life. GOD has been good to us I don’t know how we made it this far but I do know that I’m not giving up Im keeping my faith by prayer and looking into mr daughters eyes my Mother cant get out of the rehab and be homeless she been through enough in her 65 years. I always told my mom that she reminded me of ms celiy because she passive and extra sweet so I pray just like the movie that before the end My Mother CLAUDIA MAE MILTON will finally win. I just want everyone to know apprecaite what you have and love your family more and more each day they are who you are and all you have.

Dear Oprah, I did not know how to e-mail you but I was watching your show today September 17, 2008 and Ty Pennington was on in October he will airing a habitat for humanity show in which a young woman and her husband from AK Jackie and William Hurst helped build they are both in wheel chairs Jackie was born with spinal Biffida during the taping of the show she was fighting a serious infection she passed away on Tuesday September 16, 2008 she was a very special person who helped someone else without thinking of her own health i just thought you could dedicate the show to her I hope who ever can relay this message to you could thank you ever so much

Dear Staff, please, please respond to this email because of the nature of the concernd parent’s request for our Son, Patrick Ryan who has autism as does Jim Cary’s and his wife, Jenny McCarthy’s Son. I need organizational help to get a massive state wide effort of the parents of autistic students here in Tennessee to persuade educational officials to give our son, Patrick, his high school diploma. Hello, Im Dwan Gibson, an 23 year old Afro/American female and last year I was in a trailer explosion back in New Orleans, La.After the accident my cousins set up a myspace page for me and you were one of my first friends. I could’nt believe it I was deeply touched but due to the conditions I was in I never had a chance to write back to ,at first I was afraid because I knew want to tell my story but at that time it would’ve just been too much for my mind,body and spirit to handle.It has been almost two years since that tragic day and I was very strong about it at first but know all of a sudden everyday Im in tears.Since the fire, I’ve gotten married,had a beautiful baby boy and I just found out we will be having another baby soon. I watched your December 26, 2008. The mud room before the makeup looked better than any room in my house, the madeover mudroom looked as if it belongs in a mansion. They were very lucy and I am happy for them; even to be able to buy a house. The Brown’s family kitchen looks somewhat like my kitchen, the only difference is my kitchen is much smaller. Women, on the market now are so many boring, nothing new programs on health, fitness, nutrition, self help and etc, but there are so many new cases of many medical problems, including cancers and women are dying premature.
Medical organizations, so many so named “breast cancer research”, as Kaiser, Providence, OHSU, with many employees with PhD, and drug companies are consuming many billions dollars, and no result. They are NOT interesting to find a way for prevention or cure cancers: more sick people – more profit for them. It is immoral, but it is a reality.
My fitness program is unique: no one else but me is teaching how to make microcurrent, produce microelectricity in the body which may kill the cancer cells, prevent many illnesses, diseases (including cancers), wrinkles and slow down the aging process.
And it is working: I’m 71, excellent health, have no medical problems, do not need and do not spend money on doctors, medicine, supplements and vitamins. Have a lot of energy: do 55 push ups in 1 min, do 9 pull ups, do 20 body bend up by 135 degree, lift on neck 100 lbs, use a jump rope, during swimming use a butterfly strokes and etc.
And the result, very important what I’m teaching: the value of my PSA test on Prostate Cancer is 0.6 ng (very good). My body is muscular and skin is firm.
I’m in charge of my health: I don’t want to give my body in hands of doctors.

While watching Wednesday’s show I kept having the sensation of eating lemon morangue pie. When I speak of or think about the things of the spirit, I see a bride in combat boots. Anything dealing in the spiritual realm or about spiritual matters, we actually are taking the hand of God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit and putting ourselves into the greatest adventure we will ever experience here on earth. God becomes proactive with us and we become a part of His Creative Nature for His Desires for us. I have seen miracles that defy physical nature. I have been touched and touched by the spiritual realm and my life will never be the same.
In a biblical study, I learned this phrase. “For those who believe, (fully convinced) no evidence is needed. For those who do not believe, no amount of evedience will be enough to satisfy”. I have seen and heard and felt far too much to go back to the ‘non-believing’ state of mind. The spiritual realm is more real than anything my 5 senses can imaging. I don’t need to know how my definition of spirituality works because I am not the authority that makes it work. I am like one of your guests who is picked up at O’hare airport in one of you limozines. I don’t need to worry about the vehicle, or the engine, or the driver, or the directions, or who I will see when I get to my destination. God has everything planned out for me, I just need to say, “Lord, put me at the right place, at the right time and help me see, hear and understand what you are guiding me through.”
The places I’ve been, the things that I have seen, and the things that have been accomplished are absolutely awesome and beyond anything generated from the physical realm.
This is dangerous ground. Don’t ask to go there unless you want the ride of your life. God is awesome and He is more real than anything that exists here on this pebble of sand, water and atmosphere. Today’s engines should be getting 5 to 10 x the fuel mileage just by applying a basic formula; I have used this method on all of my personal vehicles to increase my fuel mileage. I have taken a 1982 F 150, 1982 Dodge 250 and 1989 Chevy 2500 that was giving me about 5 miles to the gallon. Using everything stock, I increased my mileage to average 35 to 40 miles a gallon; I have increased 6 times the mileage. I have taken a 98 Chevy Cavalier with a little time and accomplished the same thing and averaged 50 MPG.

I write today on behalf of a nurse educator and colleague, Lola Bamigboye, who has written a compelling book for the general public to increase their understanding of mental health disorders and reduce the stigma that still prevents so many from seeking professional help. Lola is a gifted and truthful storyteller. Each chapter begins with a real life story of someone with a common mental health disorder that makes the disorder palpably real including how others react to the individual and the impact on the family. A review of the etiology, neurobiology, symptoms, treatment options, medications, and resources available are presented in lay terms following each life story. She closes each chapter with quotes and words of hope specific to managing each disorder.
As a psychiatric nurse for 35 years, I have searched for such a book to share with my patients, their families and caregivers, and the general public to help them realize that there is help and there is hope. Nothing was available in the general press. Winds Against the Mind fills this gap in the literature on mental health. The book has already received positive comments from several independent literary reviewers. I think this book can make a real difference in educating the general public about common mental health problems and reducing the stigma about seeking help or acknowledging that one struggles with a particular problem.
