Early in the 2008 presidential election season, Oprah made her support for candidate Barack Obama very well known. Many of Oprah’s viewers were upset by the fact that she endorsed a specific candidate, potentially isolating those who didn’t agree with her. Could it be possible that Oprah has taken a step back to avoid a backlash or ratings drop for her shows? With the introduction of The Big Give and webcast class for A New Earth, it is understandable that Oprah is a very busy woman. But one has to question where the support has gone now that Obama is under fire for his religious beliefs and experience for the job. After being so outspoken at the start of the campaign, where has the PDA gone?
