Oprah's Cocker Spaniel, Sophie, Passed Away

Oprah is a well known dog lover and has viewed her pets as the children she never had, which makes the loss of her 13 year old cocker spaniel, Sophie, one that must be difficult for her to bear. Oprah lost Gracie, one of her golden retrievers less than a year ago, leaving her with Solomon, Luke and Layla to care for.
In the December 2007 issue of O Magazine, Oprah addressed Sophie's conditions over the last 3 years, everything from renal failure to a cancerous tumor. In the magazine Oprah discussed a trip to the vet where she and Stedman began to "prepare for the inevitable". I'm sure all of Oprah's viewers wish her the best during this time.

I am so sorry for passing of Sophie.
Our daughter lost our grandpuppy(that is what we call our daughter’s dogs) SUNSHINE a 12 year old golden retreiver to a brain tumor.
She was diagnosis 1 week before Stephanie long awaited wedding. The vet told us she had 6-7 months to live on medication.
She died in Stephanie’s arms the same day she had the MRI.
That was one week before her wedding. Our whole family jumped in the car and rushed to her home. There were 7 adults balling our eyes out at 10:00 at night.
She was a friend to all of us. We still miss her everyday. My husband and I babysit our grandpuppies when our kids are traveling on business. Sunshine always layed at my feet while I was working on the cumputer.

It is impossible to express words that take away the sting and missing. I lost my collie/shepherd Sandy (I called him “Bear”) on April 30, 1996. He was eighteen years old and a dear friend who slept by my bed at night and wouldn’t enter a door without letting me go first. I don’t even want to replace him. One friend cannot replace another. I am so sorry for your loss, so sorry.
