Friday, April 25, 2008 Oprah Show: Nate's Kitchen of the Year
Nate's kitchen of the year makeover today on The Oprah Winfrey Show was not one of my favorite Nate designs, I have to admit. Granted, the 1963 classic kitchen had to go - with its built in record player and all - but the white and stainless/gray look was not what I pictured for the Brown family. With their description of having 20-40 family and friends over for holidays, I expected something warm and inviting and instead I found that the colors of the kitchen were a bit cold. The makeover was beautiful, and the appliances amazing, but it would have been nice to see something more comforting and homey for such a giving family. "Nate the Great" is still an awesome designer, I just wasn't as thrilled with this design as with others he has done in the past.
As for the "ipod"-like Kohler spa shower for $7-10,000 and the tech house in Seattle with computerized housekeeper, I would have to say that Oprah and Nate have it right - we are in the era of the Jetsons, welcome to the future!
Monday on Oprah:
