Oprah's OWN Film Documentary Club

By December 10, 2009

Follow me on:

It has been announced -- OWN, the collaboration between Harpo and Discovery Communications, is set to premiere in January of 2011! One of the features viewers have to look forward to is reportedly a documentary club that will showcase a film monthly during a primetime slot in partnership with Ro*Co Productions. Highlighting inspirational stories, much like Oprah's Book Club, the documentary club will encourage viewers to form a screening group that will participate in web-based panel discussions. The potential this has for documentary filmmakers is unreal seeing how Oprah's had a huge hand in getting the country to read and buy books again. If you are not currently a documentary film buff, start by checking out Jennifer's About.com Documentaries site where you will find a complete guide to get you started, or help you find out more about the films that you love.

Hopefully, this will give documentaries some love. If you want to brush up on doc reviews, news, and drinks – check out Doc & a Drink. They make documentaries fun and approachable.

Want to let you club know about the DOC STORE, an online store that sells hundreds of documentaries,
many of which are difficult to find for sale anywhere else! Come buy some films or just watch some
trailers at the DOC STORE: http://www.documentarychannel.com/store

The DOC STORE is part of DOCUMENTARY CHANNEL, a television channel available on DISH Network and DIRECTV.
