With the traditional ceremony canceled, tomorrow will bring the press conference presentation of the Golden Globe Awards where The Great Debaters is up for best picture. Debaters is up against many great films -- American Gangster (also starring Denzel Washington), Atonement, Eastern Promises, Michael Clayton, No Country For Old Men, and There Will Be Blood.

While winning a Golden Globe is a great accomplishment for a film, the ceremony is typically a precursor for the more prestigious Academy Awards in February. Many critics are throwing around their picks for nominees, which will be announced Tuesday, January 22 -- and The Great Debaters is not predicted to be nominated in any category. Questions are being raised since the GGs have been canceled, whether the AAs will meet the same fate as well. For all of our sakes, lets hope that something will be resolved so that we can see our favorite stars walk the red carpet -- and that January 22nd brings good news for Harpo.
