From birth through age 13, Eckhart Tolle lived in his native Germany when he moved to Spain to live with his father. Tolle lived out his teen years in Spain until the age of 19 when he relocated to England. In 1995 Tolle settled down in Vancouver where he still resides today.

When Eckhart Tolle moved from Germany to Spain when he was 13, he gave up on formal education because of the hostile environment he found himself in while attending. With a father who allowed him to study on his own, Tolle enjoyed following his own interests of language and literature.
When Tolle reached his early 20s, he began attending evening classes to qualify for university in England. Eckhart Tolle then attended the University of London and was a researcher at the University of Cambridge.
