Lloyd Boston made surprise home visits to 6 women living in the same neighborhood - all self-proclaimed shlumpadinkas. Dawn, Jackie, Annette, Lee, Carol and Julie were all thrilled and shocked to see Lloyd at their house. Each woman answered the door with a combination of classic shlump clothes - sweats, sweatshirts, velour track suits, mom jeans and sneakers. Lloyd took the women on a 2 day shopping run to all of their regular stores: Kohl's, Sears, JC Penney, Old Navy and the Gap. Before hitting the show, the women were also treated to new hair styles by Ken Paves and makeup tips.
Dawn first started her shopping with Lloyd wearing traditional mom jeans (which she owned in every color) and an oversized sweatshirt.
When Lloyd and Ken were through working their magic, Dawn had a great everyday look from JC Penney. $44 dark jeans, a $12 white tank, $130 bright red trench and a $115 oversized white purse was all it took to make Dawn look stylish and sophisticated.
Annette was ambushed by Lloyd while heading to her car in pajama pants and a baseball cap.
After spending a few days with Lloyd, Annette looked like a new woman. Lloyd put Annette in an outfit from JC Penney as well: $50 stretch chinos, $16 white t-shirt, $130 white trench and $50 gold flats. To look sophisticated, Lloyd explained that choosing each piece in the same color will do the trick.
Jackie loved to wear elastic waist pants and had a closet full of worn out pairs in a rainbow of colors.
Once Jackie entered the hands of Lloyd and Ken, she transformed into a stylish yet comfortable mom. Lloyd dressed Jackie in clothing from Old Navy. $16.50 yoga pants, an $8.50 yellow tank, $39.50 safari jacket, a $19.50 oversized bag and $34.50 black suede shoes completed Jackie's outfit for just $118. Lloyd chose black flats for Jackie to match her black yoga pants to extend her petite frame.
Lee entered her shopping trip with Lloyd and her friends in a sweatshirt and mom jeans. Explaining how embarrassed her son was of her, Lee wanted to be able to walk into a room and feel great.
Lloyd helped Lee put together a great outfit using a pair of knee-high shiny leather healed boots that were already in Lee's closet. Lloyd paired them with pieces from the Gap. $59.50 for a casual little black dress, $19.50 black leggings and a bright red scarf for just $19.50 gave Lee a complete look to wear with her boots.
Julie, a stay-at-home mom lives in her large collection of velour track suits even though she has a very slender body to show off.
With clothing from Old Navy and the Gap, Julie put her track suits aside for more stylish comfort clothes. Lloyd chose $40 white jeans, a green long sleeve shirt, $40 anorak jacket, a $14.50 yellow scarf and $39.95 yellow flats for Julie's new look.
Carol's closet was full of stained sweats with holes in them; which were kept after a clean-out a few months back. Carol shared with Lloyd that what she kept was the best of her everyday.
Lloyd was thrilled to dress Carol's real American shape and show off her curves. Dressed in JC Penney fashions, Carol shined in $50 red pants, a $24.50 black long sleeve shirt, $60 white jacket and topped off with a leopard flat and white oversized bag.
To get out of the house quickly, Ken suggests wearing a headband instead of a ball hat; and try pulling a ponytail up and away from the face instead low towards the shoulders.
What are the 3 essential makeup must-haves? - concealer, blush and lipgloss

Lloyd suggests adding seasonal shoes and handbags - this season is all about flats and oversized bags.
Fashion editor Stacy Wallace-Albert from the Chicago Tribune thinks the single most important piece in a woman's wardrobe is a crisp, white, fitted button-down shirt. Stacy modeled an example from Brooks Brothers for $89 or 2 for $149 that is wash and wear ready.
Stacy shared 5 ways to wear this classic piece:
- Under a short sleeve cashmere sweater with dark jeans
- Belted with a flowy black trouser
- Paired with yoga pants and flats under a tunic
- Tucked into a stylish skirt with a bright belt
- As a black-tie piece paired with a long black skirt and festive belt
Jazzmin's Shlumpadinka Makeover with a Surprise:
Jazzmin is a 26 year old mother who wears her husband's clothes - but he happens to be stationed in Iraq for his 5th tour of duty. Jazzmin and her husband have an 11 month old daughter, Laila, who was born with Down's syndrome; her daughter's care is more of a priority for Jazzmin that her style. Lloyd treated Jazzmin to new hair and makeup plus a great new dress from Nordstrom for $348 to show off her curves for her surprise of getting to talk to her husband through a video conference in Iraq.
Janet's Shlumpadinka Makeover:
Janet's friends from her state of Idaho turned her in for her constant choice of overall outfits. Janet showed off her 4 favorite pair that are even seasonal.
For Janet, Lloyd shopped at Nordstrom and paired a black short sleeve belted dress over a pair of white trousers - combined with a leopard high heal and bright red clutch, Janet looked classic and sexy.
Lloyd Boston's 2 Must-Not's:
One mistake woman continuously make is over-accessorizing. Lloyd suggests picking one or two favorite pieces and showcasing them. Wearing hosiery all of the time is a fashion don't that Lloyd thinks ages women. Hosiery is appropriate for a conservative work outfit, but for a night out, try a bare leg.
