Friday Live in Chicago - Voting:
To start out the show, Oprah announced that she voted yesterday and waited in line for just over an hour. She shared that her polling location was very organized and voters waited to be called up to use the electronic machine. Many people have concerns about the wait on Tuesday and have chosen to vote early; though Gayle mentioned that she wants to vote on November 4th. Oprah stated that she felt emotional casting her vote, but at the same time was concerned about using an electronic ballot for the first time. The entire Friday Live panel (Ali, Gayle, Mark and Oprah) expressed how historical this election feels.
Friday Live in Chicago - Miracle Children:
A recap from Tuesday's episode on miracle children was shown featuring the story of baby Eliot who passed away after 99 days from Trisomy 18. Parents Matt and Ginny were on the show via Skype to share that their new baby, a girl named Hazel Emerson, was born 2 weeks ago. They stated that were both a little fearful with her birth because of losing their first son, but are since relieved that she is healthy and doing well. Mark shared that watching the clip was a wake up call for fathers to see how grateful Matt was to be able to get up with Eliot in the night and spend time with him, while many fathers feel annoyed.
Friday Live in Chicago - Faith Hill:
The panel moved to talk about the latest Shape Magazine cover featuring Faith Hill in a bikini at 41 after having 3 kids. Faith appeared on the show via Skype to talk about the cover from her home in Nashville. The new body Faith has can be attributed to a lifestyle change she and husband Tim McGraw made and working with a pilates trainer as well as 4 miles a day on an elliptical machine. The couple decided over the summer to make a daily change to become healthy and not take their good health for granted.
Friday Live in Chicago - David Foster:
David Foster, the man behind some of the biggest hits in music, was the guest of the day who has recently released a book called Hitman. David started by describing his work process - which is how he views making music, as his job. Sitting down at his piano and working, David shared sometimes great things come and sometimes they don't. David doesn't actually listen to the music he creates - he prefers classical to top 40.
Describing some of his past successes, David shared that the Unforgettable album by Natalie Cole was made simply out of love, and ended up selling 10 million copies.
Working with Celine Dion is also one of David's achievements as she remains one of the most grateful, non-diva performers in the music industry. Even though David is at the top of his game, he expressed feeling on top only half of the time, and the other half feeling like a fraud, doubting his talent. He still feels that everyone's time - regardless of their status - is equally important as he shared that he once waited 6 hours for Whitney Houston to show for a meeting.
David's latest project is his special on PBS that features some of the best musical talents today and also Charice who first appeared on Oprah.
David sat down on the piano on the show and played snippets of some of his favorite songs that he has written. When asked if it was true that he turned down producing the Celine Dion song for Titanic he admitted that it was in fact true, and that he still doesn't like the song.
David explained that his favorite part of his job is discovering new talent - which over the years has included Celine Dion, Josh Groban and Michael Buble (who he found singing at a wedding).
Friday Live in Chicago - Andrea Bocelli:
David welcomed his favorite singer to perform for viewers - Andrea Bocelli. "The Prayer" - co-written and produced by David - was performed by Andrea on the show with David on accompanying piano. The duo also performed the song "Because" from Bocelli's new album of remade classic love songs titled In Conto.
