Oprah Welcomes Superstar Mariah Carey:

Welcoming Mariah with the news of how she just recently broke Elvis' record for the most #1 singles by a solo artist ever with her 18th, "Touch My Body" - the 38 year old looked better than ever. Oprah exclaimed how great Mariah looked, but that she really did look good before as well. Mariah described how body image in the media telling women that they need to be "this thin" is ridiculous. Mariah shared that a friend pointed out to her that she needed to lose a little weight, and what seemed mean actually inspired her to get healthy.

Mariah's NYC Apartment:

Mariah started her NYC apartment tour by heading to her kitchen where her personal trainer/nutritionist Patricia was. Showing off her amazing kitchen, Mariah also shared that her quest to get in shape motivated her to work out and also improve her diet - that is where Patricia came in. Mariah explained that Patricia instructed her to cut out snacks, cooking in oil/butter and comfort foods - but that sometimes Mariah does the "one morsel" diet where she at least gets to have a bite. On that particular day Mariah was eating chicken, zucchini, artichokes and tomatoes.

Mariah's New Album:

Mariah's newest album, E=MC2 hit the stores on Tuesday, April 15, 2008. After her last album describing her emancipation, she wanted the equation to stand for the emancipation of Mariah Carey to the second power - basically taking everything to the next level.

The single from the album, "Touch My Body" gave Mariah her 18th #1 hit and the new record for most #1s by a single artist. On beating Elvis' record, Mariah shared that Elvis is and always will be a legendary figure and it wasn't about that, but she achieved this success through the grace of God and the world's best fans.

Mariah on Her Marriage:

Mariah shared that life wasn't always the greatest and she hasn't always stayed on top of her game. Getting married so young, Mariah thought that the commitment would allow Tommy Mattola to back off a bit and not be as controlling. Mariah explained that when that didn't happen she had to become emotionally blocked and shut down from the situation. Writing songs for this album allowed her to share those emotions with others and express them for herself. Her struggles, she explained, taught her how to feel worthy of love and to not just measure her life by her career and success.

Mariah's Diet and Exercise:

The next part of the interview showed more footage of Mariah and her new workout routine. Holding onto a broom handle and placing it behind her head, Mariah was shifting her waist from side to side with her feet firmly on the ground. She then put her arms out to the side and firmly flexed her wrists. These exercises are free and use no weights, just the resistance of your own body. Mariah also worked in the pool using foam noodles and the resistance of the water. The exercises only represented a portion of what she actually does - usually working out for an hour or more.

Mariah's Closet:

Oprah described how Mariah's main closet is 3,000 square feet - as big as a family sized home - but that she also has another closet she allowed cameras in for the first time - her lingerie closet! While she described usually wearing pajamas or tanks and shorts, Maria's closet was full of her collection of lingerie and perfume bottles.

More on Mariah's New Album:

Mariah writes or co-writes her own songs and her next single "Bye Bye" was inspired by her emotions over her father's death. The song, she described, is for everyone who has experienced incredible loss, even if the person is still living. Mariah described her relationship with her father as being less than supportive, but that they reconciled before he passed away, and that through it all she always had her mother's support.

Mariah's Performance:

Mariah performed her new single "Bye Bye" from her latest album, E=MC2.
